5 Job Interview Sample Questions and Answers

interview questions and sample answers

Before landing a job, one of the steps that an applicant must go through is the interview. Every job interview differs from the other depending on the position, nature of work, and mood of the interviewer. However, there’s nothing wrong coming to the interview at least half prepared. When I say half prepared, that means knowing the possible questions that the interviewer may ask and of course knowing how to answer those questions.

Below are 5 of the common easy interview questions that often asked:

1. Tell me about yourself.

Talk about your positive qualities. Talk about the present and do not discuss your childhood. Keep it short, focus on what’s written on your CV.

Sample Answer:

I have a master’s degree in Engineering and have been working as a Technical lead for two years. I am a diligent and dedicated person specially in work. I also love working with other people as I learn new things from them as well as share my knowledge too.

2. What do you know about our company?

It is normal to send a dozen of application letter to dozens of companies, however, it is the applicant’s task to know or research about the company he/she is applying for. Talk about the company’s products, their reputation, and their history. Give the interviewer an opportunity to share information about the company, to show that you are really interested.

Sample Answer:

As far as I know, (Name of the company) has been the leader in producing quality mobile phones and the highest selling phones in the market today. The company is known worldwide and has a very good reputation in customer service. It has offices and factories in U.S., Europe, Asia and South America. I recently read that the company is planning to produce LCD and LED tv too, is that true?

3. Why do you want to work for us?

Even though the compensation and benefits are good for you, do not say these, instead tell them what you can do and contribute to the company. Tell them how your experience and skills can benefit them. Tell them that you want to be a part of their team and you have the qualities that are essential in a specific company’s goal.

Sample Answer:

Since the company is on the way of improving existing mobile phones’ software and features, I believe that my experience in software development and skills will be a great help in achieving that goal. I like to be part of the team whose goal is to create advanced mobile phones.

4. What’s your strengths and weaknesses?

List your strong characteristics that are relevant to the position you are applying for. Explain how these strengths will help the company. List one or two weaknesses you have and explain in a way that it will turn out to be a strength.

Sample Answer:

I am strong-willed person, once I believe that a thing can be done, I don’t stop until it’s fulfilled. I am also responsible and punctual. I always make sure that a project is done on time. Sometimes, I am pushy but that’s only because I want to finish the job promptly.

5. What would you like to be doing 5 years from now?

The interviewer wants to know your future plans, he wants to know if your future plan involves their company if you will be hired. Don’t be too ambitious, be realistic but don’t say that you will still be on the same position. It is important to show that you have goals in your like.

Sample Answer:

Five years from now, I still like to be in the software field, probably supervising a big team that creates new software for more advanced electronics.

That’s all for now, I’ll try to add more interview questions in my future posts. If you want to prepare for a job interview, enroll in Job Preparation course.  Good luck!
